About Me

I’m Salman, a computational astrophysicist-in-training and currently a graduate student in astronomy at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU). I work under the supervision of Prof. Andrew Cooper with DESI. My research focuses on analysis and exploration of substructures in the Milky Way halo using DESI MWS and galactic dynamics simulations.

In addition, I also collaborating in National Taiwan University (NTU) Computational Astrophysics Group for fuzzy dark matter (FDM) simulation and developing GAMER numerical simulation framework with Prof. Hsi-Yu Schive.

I earned my B.Sc. in Astronomy from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 2020. Before returning to academia, I spent years working as a security engineer.

📚 My Research
I am trying to understand the nature of dark matter and the influence on the formation of galactic halo substructures. I studied the history of Milky Way using DESI Milky Way survey data and galactic dynamics simulations in Lambda-CDM. Currently, I am looking forward to find and characterize new stellar streams from the orbit of dwarf galaxies and globular clusters to better understand Milky Way merger history. Tl;dr some of my simulations predicting “invisible” and disrupted stellar stream caused by intrinsic dark matter characteristics. In addition, I also working on fuzzy dark matter (FDM) simulation for a better understanding on the nature of dark matter particle properties.
